Law Enforcement Officer Employment Law

Our firm represents local, state and federal law enforcement and security officers in administrative, civil and criminal matters. We have represented law enforcement officers through the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) representation plan. In addition, we are available to represent law enforcement officers on the Professional Law Enforcement Association (PLEA) representation plan.

We have represented city, county and federal police and security officers in federal court, before the Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB) and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), and in internal agency investigations involving Garrity warnings and Kalkines warnings and the credibility of the officer or security guard. We have reviewed matters related to Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification of Utah police officers. We have assisted in the criminal defense of policy officers. We advise and represent clients regarding issues of reasonable accommodation and physical fitness requirements of security guards and police officers. We offer assistance to federal law enforcement officers nationwide on federal discrimination and federal whistleblowing issues. We advise and defend clients against misconduct and performance charges, including the review and response to proposed discipline letters and representation in MSPB, EEOC and arbitration matters and complaints to the Office of Special Counsel. We advise and represent clients on security clearance and other clearance issues, including Utah POST certification, Department of Defense (DOD) and other federal agency reliability programs.

Prior Approval On Law Enforcement Representation Panels:
